Housing in Peshastin reflects its agricultural roots and its location between two larger towns. The stock is a mix of older, modest single-family homes and ranch-style houses, many set among orchards or on larger rural lots, alongside some newer construction and scattered farm properties. Because Peshastin is unincorporated and small, inventory is limited and properties often carry more land than comparable homes in Wenatchee or Leavenworth. Peshastin is served by the Cascade School District (No. 228), a public district based in Leavenworth that covers a large, mostly rural portion of western Chelan County, including Dryden, Lake Wenatchee, Plain, Winton, and Peshastin. Peshastin-Dryden Elementary School sits within the community and serves the youngest students, while older students attend the district's middle and high schools in the Leavenworth area. The district spans more than a thousand square miles of Cascade foothills, and its small, community-based schools are a central part of local life.

Peshastin sits on U.S. Route 2, the principal east-west highway through the Wenatchee River Valley, which links the community to Wenatchee to the southeast and Leavenworth, Stevens Pass, and the Seattle side of the Cascades to the west. Link Transit operates the Wenatchee–Leavenworth route with service through Peshastin (partly on-call), and a Greyhound stop at the Big Y Park-and-Ride connects the valley to longer-distance routes. Pangborn Memorial Airport in East Wenatchee provides regional air service. For most residents, commuting along Highway 2 to Wenatchee or Leavenworth is the daily pattern.

Peshastin Pinnacles State Park, a 34-acre day-use area at the edge of town, is the community's outdoor centerpiece, with sandstone slabs, switchback trails, and panoramic views of the Cascades, hills, and orchards. Hikers and rock climbers use the park year-round, and its picnic area makes it a local gathering spot. The Wenatchee River and nearby Lake Wenatchee offer fishing, rafting, and boating, while Leavenworth, a few minutes west, anchors regional recreation with its festivals, skiing at Stevens Pass, and trail networks. The surrounding orchards and estate wineries round out a landscape built for outdoor living.
